PLC-5 on DH+ still running a line — ENET-to-DH+ or bite the ControlLogix bullet?
The question
Two PLC-5/40Es, DH+, PanelView 1000. Management wants Ethernet everywhere. Is a 1785-ENET / DH+ gateway a bridge for two years, or are we buying a cutover we should have done in 2019?

Gateway is a bridge, not a strategy. If the process is stable and parts are on the shelf, a 1785-ENET can buy you the outage window. If the PanelView 1000 is also tired, cut over the HMI and the processor in one planned weekend. Half-migrated DH+ is how you get a 2 a.m. call with no spare 1771.
