15-year-old Logix with no comments — do you comment in place or wrap and walk away?

L72, original integrator gone. Rungs are I: and O: with numbers. I have a weekend. If I rename tags I break the HMI. If I don't, the next person hates me. What is the smallest useful comment pass that isn't a rewrite?

Don't mass-rename. Alias the important I/O, comment the fault routine and the auto sequence, put a description on every AOI. Export a tag CSV. HMI stays on the old names until you schedule it. A weekend that documents the permissives is worth more than a clever UDT nobody asked for.
