Ignition gateway died on a VM snapshot — lesson so we don't repeat it
The question
Ignition 8.1 on a VM. Snapshot during a tag change, gateway would not come back clean. Historian is fine. What is the restore order you use, and do you still let IT snapshot these things?

No snapshots of a live gateway. Backup the gateway internally, then a cold snapshot if IT insists. Restore: OS, Ignition service, restore the .gwbk from the night before, then reconnect devices one by one. We also pin the VM clock. Time jumps wreck subscriptions.
